New single release 14.02.2025

French pianist Blandine Waldmann invites listeners on a breathtaking journey with her latest release: Liszt’s Transcendental Étude No. 12Chasse-neige. This masterpiece, often regarded as the pinnacle of the Transcendental Études, explores the swirling tumult of snowstorms through tremolos, chromatic cascades, and a gradual crescendo to an emotionally charged climax, mirroring the Romantic era’s use of nature to convey profound human emotion.

For Blandine, Chasse-neige is more than a virtuosic feat. “Nature becomes symbolic, reflecting the most intense emotions and inner turmoil”, she explains, drawing parallels between Liszt’s music and the evocative landscapes of Friedrich or Turner. Her passionated interpretation captures the étude’s psychological depth and modernistic chromaticism, emphasizing its timeless resonance.

Blandine Waldmann is a French pianist whose artistry thrives on exploring the profound emotional and harmonic dimensions of piano repertoire. Educated in the cosmopolitan city of Brussels, she honed her craft at the Royal Conservatories under the guidance of Alexander Madzar and Daniel Blumenthal, earning master’s degrees in piano and chamber music with highest honours. Her lyrical phrasing, shaped by her early violin studies, and her innate appreciation for polyphony demonstrate her dedication to seamlessly uniting intuitive expression with remarkable technical skill.

With influences ranging from Martha Argerich’s fluid phrasing to Wilhelm Kempff’s profound interpretations, Blandine embodies the perfect balance of technical mastery and heartfelt expression, leaving her audience with a lasting impression of artistry and soul.

"The touch of the pianist is endeavouring to find a sound pallet and a unique color, returned with emotion, without denying the passage of time, on the contrary; and to work with an obstinacy fascinated on the variability of the expression and the dynamics."
